Meeting 5
(w/b 1st September)
This is the most important time of the year for students.
Aims of the meeting:
* To finalise personal statement
This should be 47 lines, about 2 thirds of which is subject specific. Make sure that if applying for 2 different subjects students haven't made this haven't made this obvious in the PS. Exact requirements can be found on the UCAS website.
* To ensure 5 university choices have been made and can be justified (4 for medics)
Students need to know the entry requirements for each university and at least one choice should be obtainable with the student's current grades.
* Ensure students know the consequences of their choices
Some universities and courses interview candidates
Dundee is very far away and costs money to travel to and from (That's just an example, some students do indeed realise but just make sure they have investigated these factors rather then picking names from the UCAS website)
The top 5 universities are generally looking for 3As, or maybe 2As 1B
