Aims: Draft personal statement

  • Two thirds about why you love the course, one third on other things about you that make you a great candidate for university
  • What interests them about the courses they are looking at?
  • What reading have they done?
  • Consider work experience and write the skills gained
  • Use the UCAS site for advice and Pure Potential website has examples of good personal statements
  • Are students registered on the UCAS website? If you have time create a dummy account on UCAS to see the process for yourself, bear in mind that students need to pay £15 to apply, this is either by credit or debit card, however some schools allow students to pay them.

For next meeting:

  • Students need to have completed the personal statements.
  • students needto have chosen their 4 or 4 university choices including at least one that they would get into with their current AS grades
