Meeting 9
January 1st - March 15thIf one of your students has NOT applied to university this year or is retaking year 12 then please see cohort 2 Meeting Outlines. These students are also eligible to attend the trips currently taking place for the new year 12 cohort.
Aims of the Meeting
- To ensure students are focused on achieving the grades needed for their first or second choices
- To ensure students are deciding which universities they would like to choose either ideally by visiting them if they haven't done so already. This is key in terms of retention rates at university.
- Planning for University financially - Event at the end of February for parents and students
- Let them know about the Prime Minister's Global Fellowship, an exciting programme that takes 100 enterprising school-leavers to spend 6 weeks in either Brazil, India or China in the summer before university starts. 2 weeks are spent learning the language and seeing the sights, 2 weeks are spent on a research project in a school with local pupils and the final 2 weeks are spent with a global company, investigating how international business impacts on local communities. Have a look at the website, to apply your headteacher will need to write a reference. Deadline February 18th.
